American Legion Gaming Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of American Legion Gaming, Department of California (“ALG”) websites, verification services, Discord community features, and related programs. By using these services, you agree to these Terms.

1. Purpose

ALG provides gaming, community, engagement, and related opportunities for veterans, service members, members of The American Legion Family, and other eligible participants. Certain services, Discord roles, channels, programs, or benefits may require verification.

2. Military Verification

ALG may use third-party providers such as GOVX to verify military status. Completing GOVX verification does not automatically establish membership in The American Legion.

A qualifying GOVX military verification may make a user eligible for roles including:

  • Verified Veteran
  • Nitro Eligible

Eligibility may vary depending on the military affiliation returned by the verification provider and ALG program requirements. Spouse, dependent, family, civilian, or other affiliations do not automatically qualify someone for a veteran or service-member role. ALG may determine which verified affiliations qualify for individual programs.

3. American Legion Membership Verification

Verification as a member of The American Legion is a separate process. Successful Legion membership verification may result in additional Discord roles or privileges, including roles such as:

  • Verified Legionnaire
  • Verified Veteran
  • Verified Legion Family
  • Nitro Eligible

The names and availability of Discord roles may change. ALG verification does not replace official membership records maintained by The American Legion.

4. Accuracy of Information

You agree to provide truthful and accurate information during verification. You may not:

  • Impersonate another person
  • Submit another person’s military or membership information
  • Attempt to obtain verification through false information
  • Circumvent eligibility requirements
  • Manipulate verification systems
  • Create multiple accounts to obtain duplicate benefits
  • Transfer verification or benefits to another person

ALG may suspend or revoke verification status where fraud, abuse, or material inaccuracies are identified.

5. Discord Accounts

Verification may be linked to a specific Discord account. You are responsible for maintaining control of your Discord account. ALG is not responsible for loss of access caused by Discord account suspension, deletion, compromise, username changes, or actions taken by Discord. Discord’s own Terms of Service continue to apply.

6. Discord Roles

Discord roles are administrative tools used by ALG. Receiving a role does not create an employment relationship, membership contract, property right, entitlement, or guarantee of continued access. ALG may modify, rename, add, or remove roles when reasonably necessary to administer the community, correct errors, respond to abuse, or change program requirements.

7. Nitro and Other Benefits

A designation such as Nitro Eligible means that ALG has determined that the user meets applicable eligibility requirements. It does not guarantee receipt of Discord Nitro. Nitro codes, subscriptions, memberships, giveaways, promotional items, and other benefits may be:

  • Limited in quantity
  • Subject to funding
  • Subject to separate program rules
  • Restricted to one benefit per eligible individual
  • Subject to expiration
  • Modified or discontinued

ALG may use verification records to prevent duplicate claims. Benefits have no guaranteed cash value unless expressly stated otherwise.

8. Community Conduct

Users must comply with ALG community rules and Discord’s Terms and Community Guidelines. ALG may restrict or terminate access for conduct including harassment, threats, fraud, spam, abuse, impersonation, malicious activity, or other conduct inconsistent with community standards. Verification does not exempt a user from community rules.

9. Third-Party Services

ALG services may interact with third parties including GOVX and Discord. ALG does not control the availability, security, policies, or operation of third-party services. Your use of those services may also be governed by their respective terms and policies.

10. Verification Decisions

ALG may rely on information supplied by third-party verification providers. If a verification result is pending, unsuccessful, expired, revoked, or otherwise does not satisfy ALG eligibility requirements, access or benefits may be withheld until eligibility is established. Technical errors are not necessarily equivalent to a failed verification. ALG may provide alternative review procedures when appropriate but is not required to approve an alternative form of verification.

11. No Guarantee of Service

ALG may modify, suspend, or discontinue any portion of its website, Discord integrations, verification services, programs, or benefits. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

12. Intellectual Property

ALG names, graphics, logos, website materials, and program materials may be protected by trademark, copyright, or other intellectual-property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants permission to use American Legion trademarks, ALG branding, or third-party trademarks except as expressly authorized.

13. Disclaimers

ALG services are provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. Verification confirms only the eligibility information made available through the applicable verification process. Verification does not constitute a government credential, military record, security clearance, or legal determination of veteran status.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ALG and organizations assisting in the operation of ALG are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from use of or inability to use the services. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

15. Changes

ALG may revise these Terms as its programs and services evolve. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date or providing notice where appropriate. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
