Few streamers can say their career path has included maintaining B-52 bombers, coordinating major live events and building a full-time career in content creation. For ALG streamer TheLostDrake, that journey shaped the perspective he brings to gaming, community building and Veteran support.

TheLostDrake served in the United States Air Force as a dedicated crew chief working on B-52 bombers at Barksdale Air Force Base. He entered military service in early 2000, just before the country was reshaped by the events that followed 9/11.

“I was a dedicated crew chief on B-52 bombers,” TheLostDrake said. “I worked directly on my aircraft every single time it came in or out and handled phase inspections. I was basically a mechanic.”

Unlike many younger Veterans entering service during the rise of online gaming and streaming, TheLostDrake’s military years came before content creation became what it is today.

“We were still on flip phones back then,” he said.

After leaving the military, TheLostDrake leaned into skills he had already developed through graphic design and marketing. While still serving, he had built his own design company creating websites and working with clients. That background later led him into large-scale event coordination.

“It was kind of a weird transition going from being a mechanic to that,” he said.

TheLostDrake began streaming in 2015 after attending E3, where several people told him he had the personality for content creation. Curious, he returned home, bought a $12 microphone, turned his closet into a streaming setup and taught himself the basics.

“I had no idea what OBS was,” he said. “I just saw people doing it and thought, all right, let me figure this out.”

Over the last decade, TheLostDrake has become an established variety creator, an Xbox partner and a collaborator with major gaming companies including Capcom and Square Enix. At one point, he ranked as the fifth-largest male content creator on Mixer, building a community of more than 225,000 followers.

His content spans multiple genres, from first-person shooters like Destiny 2 to story-driven RPG franchises such as Final Fantasy and adventure titles like The Legend of Zelda.

“I’m a variety content creator,” TheLostDrake said. “I love games with stories. That’s what pulls me in.”

TheLostDrake’s streamer name carries deep personal meaning. “Lost Drake” traces back to his birth, when he nearly died after being born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. His grandfather gave him the nickname, inspired by the drakes on their Norwegian-Scottish family crest.

“It’s always been who I am,” he said.

TheLostDrake joined ALG after repeated encouragement from JustTheJustin, who saw both his potential and the value of connecting him with a Veteran support network.

At first, TheLostDrake admitted he held some of the same misconceptions many younger Veterans have about The American Legion.

“I thought it was where the old guys go to drink,” he said.

Instead, he found a community that encouraged him to reconnect with Veteran resources and focus on long-term support for his family.

TheLostDrake credits ALG members with helping him secure his service records and start his disability claim after years of putting it off.

“JustTheJustin kept nudging me and telling me to stop being stubborn,” he said.

That support came during a difficult chapter. Over the past several years, TheLostDrake has faced serious health challenges, including a stroke and multiple medical procedures. While he continues streaming full time, he recently stepped back from his regular Wednesday ALG slot to focus on recovery.

For TheLostDrake, one of ALG’s greatest strengths is its authenticity.

“I’ve had nothing but positive things to say about ALG,” he said. “If I need something, people are there.”

Gaming has remained one of his strongest forms of relief throughout life’s challenges.

“It’s always been my escape,” he said. “You can mentally shut off and dive into another world.”

That passion has fueled a career that includes voice acting roles in six video games, shoutcasting at major events including DreamHack and PAX, and appearances at some of gaming’s largest conventions.

Despite everything he has accomplished, TheLostDrake remains focused on what matters most.

“If I can pay my bills, take care of my family and play video games, I’m good,” he said.

Looking back, he said joining ALG gave him something he did not realize he needed.

“It really does help a lot of people,” he said. “I stand by it 100 percent.”
