ALG will bring its community together Aug. 14 at 8 p.m. Eastern for another Community Friday, a weekly Discord gathering built around conversation, camaraderie, and gaming.
Hosted by @NEAVAYF and @FLO_CHICKEN, the event will welcome Veterans, Service Members, military families, supporters, and gamers into the ALG Discord voice chat for 60 to 90 minutes of discussion, community updates, questions, and gaming.
Community Fridays give members a regular place to spend time together, learn more about ALG, talk about topics affecting the military and Veteran community, and connect through games.
A Place to Connect Each Week
Each Community Friday follows a flexible format that leaves room for current topics, community feedback, questions, and conversations that develop naturally during the evening.
The hosts will open the event with introductions and community updates before moving into an open question-and-answer session. Attendees can ask about ALG, gaming, Discord features, membership, Veteran resources, upcoming activities, or ways to become more involved.
Members are also encouraged to share suggestions about the games, discussions, and future events they would like to see. Community input will continue to help shape the weekly gatherings and give participants a voice in what happens next.
The series is designed to strengthen relationships across the ALG Discord while giving Veterans and others connected to the military community another way to spend time together. Community Fridays can also introduce members to upcoming gaming events, volunteer opportunities, programs, and resources available through ALG and its partners.
Why Community Matters
Community Friday will also include conversation about friendship, camaraderie, and maintaining connections during and after military service. Online gaming communities can create opportunities for Veterans to meet people with shared experiences, build friendships, and remain socially active regardless of where they live.
Topics during future gatherings may include Veteran isolation, transitioning into civilian life, mental health awareness, peer support, and finding purpose through community. ALG can also connect members with resources from The American Legion, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and other organizations serving Veterans and military families.
The conversations are intended to give members room to talk about common experiences, exchange ideas, learn about available resources, and connect with others who understand military life.
The Community Chooses the Game
Following the discussion, members can transition into community gaming. Participants will have an opportunity to recommend games and join others for a relaxed night of play.
Possible Community Friday games include Fortnite, Call of Duty, Helldivers 2, Marvel Rivals, Rocket League, Halo Infinite, Minecraft, Fall Guys, Jackbox Games, and other titles requested by the community.
Members do not need to be competitive or highly experienced players to participate. Community Fridays are open to longtime ALG members, new Discord users, casual players, and anyone interested in meeting others through gaming.
