September is packed with major releases across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The month brings the return of Onimusha, a new Silent Hill story, Insomniac’s long-awaited Marvel’s Wolverine, and several new RPGs.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault
Release date: Sept. 2

Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault starts the month on Sept. 2. Will returns as both adventurer and shopkeeper. Players head into dangerous areas in search of weapons, relics, and other valuables before returning to town to sell what they found. Money earned at the shop can be invested in equipment and the surrounding village of Tresna. The sequel expands the dungeon-crawling and shop-management setup of the original Moonlighter. The Sept. 2 release also brings the PC version out of Early Access.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
Release date: Sept. 3

Rebel Wolves will release The Blood of Dawnwalker on Sept. 3. The dark fantasy RPG takes place in 14th-century Europe during a period of war and plague. Players control Coen, a young man who has become a Dawnwalker. He remains human during the day but gains vampiric abilities at night. The time of day changes more than Coen’s abilities. Quests and situations can play out differently depending on when players approach them. Choices made throughout the story can also affect what happens to Coen and his family. The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first game from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by developers who previously worked on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Release date: Sept. 4
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2
Capcom brings Onimusha back on Sept. 4 with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. The game takes players to a supernatural version of Kyoto during Japan’s Edo period. Samurai Miyamoto Musashi becomes caught in a battle against the Genma after receiving an Oni Gauntlet that grants him the powers needed to fight the demonic enemies. Sword combat sits at the center of the game. Players can parry attacks, break enemy defenses, and absorb souls through the Oni Gauntlet. Capcom moved the release forward to Sept. 4 after previously planning to launch the game later in the year.
NBA 2K27
Release date: Sept. 4
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2
Basketball fans get NBA 2K27 on Sept. 4. Victor Wembanyama appears on the Standard Edition cover. Caitlin Clark represents the Deluxe Edition, while Derrick Rose appears on the limited Ultra Edition. This year’s game includes changes to shooting, defensive AI, the MyPLAYER Builder, and MyCAREER. The MyCAREER story also introduces co-op play.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Release date: Sept. 15

One of September’s biggest releases arrives midway through the month. Insomniac Games releases Marvel’s Wolverine exclusively for PlayStation 5 on Sept. 15. The game follows Logan through a story that digs into his past while sending him against enemies including the Reavers. Combat is built around Wolverine getting close to enemies and staying aggressive with his claws, strikes, and mutant abilities. Insomniac has also confirmed New Game Plus, Mission Replay, Nightmare Challenges, Photo Mode, and more than 100 accessibility features. Players can adjust elements such as blood, dismemberment, and adult language through optional settings.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Release date: Sept. 17
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2 gets a major exclusive on Sept. 17 with Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. The latest entry in Nintendo’s tactical RPG series follows four heroes whose stories take place across different periods of time. Players will gather allies and take part in turn-based battles as the four journeys begin to connect. Time plays a central role in the story. The heroes are trying to prevent a future threatened by the demon god Balor. Character relationships and tactical decisions return alongside the series’ familiar grid-based combat.
Control Resonant
Release date: Sept. 24
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Remedy Entertainment returns to the world of Control on Sept. 24 with Control Resonant. This time, Dylan Faden takes the lead. Manhattan is being distorted by supernatural forces, and his sister Jesse is missing. Dylan must use his own paranatural abilities while searching through areas of the city where reality and gravity no longer behave normally. Remedy has described the game as an action-adventure RPG with larger areas to explore than the original Control. The digital version remains scheduled for Sept. 24. Players who want a physical console copy will need to wait until Oct. 15 after Remedy delayed the disc release.
Silent Hill: Townfall
Release date: Sept. 24
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PC
September also brings another trip into the Silent Hill universe. Silent Hill: Townfall takes place on the isolated Scottish island of St. Amelia. Players control Simon Ordell as he searches for answers about his past and the events that changed the island. A strange pocket television called the CRTV becomes an important part of the story and exploration. Simon can use a limited selection of weapons and tools, but avoiding danger will sometimes be more important than fighting it. The cast includes Jovan Adepo, Terry O’Quinn, and Kezia Burrows.
Minecraft Dungeons II
Release date: Sept. 29
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2
Minecraft Dungeons II arrives Sept. 29. The sequel returns to the action RPG approach of the original Minecraft Dungeons. New areas, enemies, equipment, and missions expand the formula this time around. Players can build characters around different combinations of weapons, armor, artifacts, talismans, and other gear. Co-op remains an important part of the experience. Players can team up locally, play online with friends, or use matchmaking. The game will also be available through Xbox Game Pass at launch.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered
Release date: Sept. 29
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2
Geralt returns to the Continent on Sept. 29 with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. CD Projekt Red announced the remaster during Gamescom Opening Night Live. The new version updates the 2015 RPG with changes to visuals, performance, combat, movement, and other parts of the game. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included. Existing owners on qualifying PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms will receive the remaster as a free upgrade. Nintendo players will also get a native Switch 2 version. CD Projekt Red announced the remaster alongside Songs of the Past, a new Witcher 3 expansion planned for 2027.
