Rockstar Games has given fans the next major piece of the Grand Theft Auto VI rollout. Pre-orders for GTA VI will begin June 25, bringing the long-awaited game one step closer to its Nov. 19 release date.
The announcement came alongside the reveal of the game’s official cover art, a major moment for a franchise known for turning its box art into part of the hype. As past Grand Theft Auto covers, the new artwork uses a panel-style design filled with characters, vehicles, weapons, police, and pieces of the game’s world. At the center are Jason and Lucia, the two main characters Rockstar has made the focus of GTA VI.
Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s official site currently lists those platforms and allows players to wishlist the game before pre-orders open. Rockstar has only listed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S so far, leaving PC plans unconfirmed.
The game takes players back to Vice City, this time as part of the larger state of Leonida. Rockstar describes the story as following Jason and Lucia, after an easy score goes wrong. They are pulled into a criminal conspiracy across “the sunniest place in America.” The setup points to a story built around crime, survival, trust, and the kind of high-speed trouble Grand Theft Auto is known for.
For players, the June 25 pre-order date is significant because it may finally answer some of the biggest questions still surrounding the game. Rockstar has not yet confirmed pricing, editions, pre-order bonuses, collector’s items, or whether any version will include early access. Those details are likely what many fans will be watching for when pre-orders go live.
The official cover art also gives fans more to study while they wait. The artwork leans into the bright, chaotic personalities of Vice City and Leonida, blending luxury, danger, crime, and law enforcement. It feels familiar enough to connect with the series’ history, but the focus on Jason and Lucia gives GTA VI a different feel from Grand Theft Auto V before the game even launches.
The pressure around GTA VI is massive. Reuters reported that the game is expected to become the world’s largest video game launch, with the potential to generate billions of dollars in sales within days of release. Expectations are especially high because Grand Theft Auto V remains one of the best-selling games ever, with nearly 230 million units sold.
After years of leaks, rumors, delays, and fan theories, Rockstar is now moving into the part of the rollout that feels real for players: cover art, store listings, wishlists, and pre-orders. The next big date is June 25, when fans will finally be able to reserve their copy of Grand Theft Auto VI ahead of its return to Vice City.
