PC players may not have to wait nearly as long for Grand Theft Auto VI as they did for the last major Rockstar releases.
A new report from GamesBeat says Rockstar Games plans to release GTA VI on PC during the first quarter of 2027, putting the potential release sometime between January and March.
The report cites four anonymous industry sources familiar with Rockstar’s plans. Rockstar did not respond to GamesBeat’s request for comment before the story was published, and the company has not officially announced a PC version or release date.
What Rockstar has confirmed is that GTA VI will launch Nov. 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If the reported PC window holds, PC players could be waiting no more than a few months after the console release.
That would be a major change from Grand Theft Auto V. The game originally launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, but the PC version of GTA V did not arrive until April 14, 2015, roughly 19 months later.
Rockstar followed a similar pattern with Red Dead Redemption 2. The game reached consoles in October 2018 before coming to PC on Nov. 5, 2019, more than a year after its original release.
A first-quarter 2027 release would make the turnaround for GTA VI considerably shorter.
PC has also become an increasingly important part of the Grand Theft Auto community. GTA V still has a large PC audience, and roleplaying servers and communities built around games like GTA Online have extended the game’s life years beyond its original release.
Rockstar’s purchase of Cfx.re, the team behind the popular FiveM and RedM roleplaying platforms, in 2023 also tied the company more closely to that community. FiveM has become one of the biggest ways PC players experience customized GTA V multiplayer servers.
A shorter gap could also mean PC players would not have to decide between waiting more than a year or buying GTA VI on console first and purchasing another copy when the PC version eventually arrives.
There is still reason to be cautious with the reported date. GamesBeat’s information comes from unnamed industry sources, and Rockstar has already changed GTA VI’s release schedule during development. Even if early 2027 is the current internal target, plans can change before Rockstar announces anything.
Rockstar’s official GTA VI page currently lists only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with both versions scheduled to release Nov. 19.
