Paramount Game Studio

Paramount Skydance is putting more attention on video games with the launch of Paramount Games Studio, a new division that brings Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media into one team.

The studio will develop and publish games based on Paramount franchises, following the company’s August 2025 merger with Skydance. Tony Driscoll will serve as president, with Dan Prigg, Shawn Kittelsen, and Amy Hennig also part of the leadership team.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin Is First Up

The studio’s first major reveal is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, a AAA action-adventure game based on the darker comic book storyline.

The game is being developed by PlatinumGames, the studio known for Bayonetta and Nier: Automata. It will be published by Paramount Games Studio and released for consoles and PC. No release date has been announced.

The Last Ronin follows a lone surviving Turtle in a future New York City ruled by the grandson of Shredder. The story centers on revenge, loss, and survival after the deaths of the other Turtles.

A version of the game had previously been announced in 2023 through Black Forest Games and THQ Nordic. That version is no longer moving forward. Paramount is restarting the project through PlatinumGames.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Is Coming in July

Paramount Games Studio also shared an update on Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, a 1v1 fighter set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

The game is being developed by Gameplay Group International and PM Studios in collaboration with Paramount and Avatar Studios. It will include an original canon story mode and is scheduled to launch on July 23.

The fighter is separate from the previously announced Avatar: The Last Airbender action RPG, which is no longer in production.

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier Adds a Psychological Thriller

Paramount Games Studio is also working with Bloober Team on Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, a psychological action-adventure game set in the Star Trek universe.

The game stars Ro Laren, the Bajoran officer from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Picard, with Michelle Forbes returning to the role. The story follows Ro after she responds to a distress signal and crashes on a dangerous planet tied to a mysterious alien presence.

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier is planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2027.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Remains in Development

The new studio will also oversee Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the World War II action-adventure game from Skydance New Media.

The game features Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s, in an original Marvel story. It is led by Amy Hennig, best known for her work on the Uncharted series.

The game had been delayed from its original 2025 window, but recent reports say it remains in development under Paramount Games Studio.

Amy Hennig’s Star Wars Project Remains in Development

Star Wars

An untitled Star Wars game from Skydance New Media is also still in development. Details remain limited, but the project continues at Paramount Games Studio, with Hennig serving as creative director.

SpongeBob and Other Paramount Franchises Could Be Next

Spongebob Squarepants

Paramount has not announced a new SpongeBob game as part of this launch, but reporting from Polygon says Paramount Games Studio is building around four major franchise areas: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek, and Avatar.

Not mean every franchise has an officially dated or revealed new title, but it does show where Paramount sees long-term gaming potential.
