The 2026 gaming calendar is far from finished. Several of the year’s largest releases are still ahead, including the return of Master Chief, new adventures featuring Wolverine and the Belmont family, two very different Star Wars games, and the long-awaited arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Here are some of the most anticipated games still scheduled to arrive in 2026.
July 28: Halo: Campaign Evolved
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC
Halo: Campaign Evolved rebuilds the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign with modern visuals, revised cinematics and updated controls. It also adds new missions, weapons and vehicles. Players can complete the campaign alone, use two-player split-screen on consoles, or join up to four players online with cross-play and cross-progression.
August 27: Star Wars Zero Company
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
Star Wars Zero Company trades lightsaber action for turn-based tactical combat. Players lead Hawks, a former Republic officer commanding an unusual Clone Wars squad. Each squad member brings a unique set of skills, so success depends on how players arrange and use the team. Between missions, players can recruit specialists, gather intelligence, and improve their base.
September 3: The Blood of Dawnwalker
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
Set against plague-ravaged 14th-century Europe, The Blood of Dawnwalker places players in a grim fantasy world filled with vampires and political conflict. Coen is human by day and a vampire after sunset, changing combat and exploration. Weapons and magic are useful in daylight, while night brings supernatural speed, strength, and claws.
September 4: Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC
Capcom is reviving its samurai action series with Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi battles demonic Genma in Edo-period Kyoto. The Oni Gauntlet allows him to absorb souls and use supernatural powers, while combat centers on close-range sword fights, timed deflections, and quick counters.
September 15: Marvel’s Wolverine
Platform: PlayStation 5
Insomniac Games is leaving Spider-Man’s New York for a darker superhero story. Logan returns when Bolivar Trask targets mutants, sending Wolverine through Canada, Tokyo and Madripoor. The single-player adventure emphasizes his claws, healing ability and aggressive close-range combat.
September 17: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave brings Nintendo’s tactical role-playing series to Switch 2. Warriors enter the Heroic Games, where the winner receives one wish. Battles will once again depend on character placement, weapons, and relationships between units, while the competitors’ personal goals shape the story.
September 24: CONTROL Resonant
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and GeForce NOW, with Mac following later in 2026
CONTROL Resonant expands Remedy Entertainment’s paranormal series beyond the Federal Bureau of Control. Dylan Faden takes the lead as Manhattan begins collapsing under a reality-bending threat. The action RPG features supernatural powers, a shapeshifting weapon, and a larger city setting.
September 24: Silent Hill: Townfall
Platforms: PlayStation 5 and PC
Silent Hill: Townfall brings Konami’s psychological horror series to the isolated Scottish island of St. Amelia. Simon Ordell returns to confront his past and finds the community covered by familiar fog. Presented in first person, the game emphasizes exploration, puzzles, limited resources, and stealth over constant combat.
October 2: Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve returns to Strangereal, where real-world fighter aircraft share the skies with fictional nations and massive military weapons. Set during a war in 2029, players can select aircraft, upgrade jets, command wingmen, and enter cinematic dogfights.
October 6: Gears of War: E-Day
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S and PC
Gears of War: E-Day takes place 14 years before the original game and shows the Locust Horde’s first attack. Young Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago fight as cities fall and the threat emerges from underground. The game keeps the series’ heavy cover-based combat while leaning further into horror.
October 6: Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is set after the Empire’s fall, when illegal competition spreads across the Outer Rim. Players control Shade, a racer pursuing revenge and recognition in the Galactic League. It includes several repulsorcraft types, a story campaign, vehicle customization and online races.
October 15: Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, in Paris in 1499. Monsters have entered the city as Dracula’s influence returns. Rose carries Dracula’s curse but continues her family’s work with a whip, other weapons, and relics.
October 23: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 continues Infinity Ward’s rebooted series with a new campaign, competitive multiplayer and the return of DMZ. Multiplayer includes 6-versus-6 maps and larger vehicle-focused battlefields. DMZ will again challenge squads to complete assignments, collect equipment and escape before enemy players take them out.
October 28: Phantom Blade Zero
Platforms: PlayStation 5 and PC
Phantom Blade Zero blends Chinese martial arts, dark fantasy, machinery and folk horror. Players control Soul, an assassin framed for murder and left with only 66 days to live. Fast swordplay, counters, and finishing moves make battles resemble choreographed martial arts scenes.
November 19: Grand Theft Auto VI
Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
Grand Theft Auto VI remains the most closely watched game still scheduled for 2026. Rockstar returns to Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. The story follows Jason and Lucia after a robbery pulls them into a wider conspiracy.
Release Date TBA: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo is bringing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to Switch 2. An exact date has not been announced. Nintendo has described the Nintendo 64 classic as being “reborn,” but has not explained how much of the original game will be rebuilt or redesigned.
