Legacy Games is shutting down its online store and servers, leaving customers with a limited window to download and install games they have already purchased.
The store will close Dec. 31, 2026, ending new purchases, Hero Club memberships, points, rewards, and redemption of download codes included with certain physical game releases. Customers will then have until Feb. 28, 2027, to download and install games already connected to their accounts.
Games already downloaded and installed will keep working after the servers go offline. The problem comes if a player later deletes a game, replaces a computer, loses a hard drive, or needs to download it again. Legacy says games removed after Feb. 28 will no longer be available to download through its service.
Legacy currently markets its downloadable games as “Yours to keep forever,” even though customers will lose the ability to download them after Feb. 28.
The closure affects a catalog that is still receiving new releases. Legacy currently lists Arcane – 3 Pack among its newer releases, bundling Hunter’s Journey: Nightmare Hunting CE, Dark Town Secrets: Lost Lulu CE, and The Harmony Chronicles: Elixir Revolution CE.
Players may also recognize series such as House of 1000 Doors, Lost Lands, Grim Legends, Mystery Case Files, and New York Mysteries, all of which are sold through the Legacy catalog.
Those are not obscure leftovers from the company’s early years. A collection featuring House of 1000 Doors, Lost Lands, and Grim Legends was Legacy’s third-best-selling game pack of 2025. Another of its top-selling 2025 collections included Mystery Case Files: Key to Ravenhearst alongside several other hidden-object games.
Many of the games sold through Legacy were created by other developers and distributed through the company’s storefront and bundles. That means the shutdown is not limited to games developed by Legacy itself. Players who built libraries through the service will need to make sure anything they want to keep is installed before the servers go offline.
The deadline also applies to physical PC game collections sold through retailers including Amazon and Walmart. If a physical release includes a Legacy download code, the company says that code must be redeemed by Dec. 31. Once the games appear in the customer’s account, they still need to be downloaded and installed by Feb. 28.
Games obtained through Amazon Luna promotions are affected as well. Legacy says games redeemed through Luna work like other purchases tied to a customer’s account. Players need to redeem eligible games before the end of 2026 and install them through the Legacy Games Launcher before the February deadline.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2027, the Legacy Games Launcher will only allow customers to download, install, and play games they already own. New purchases and other store functions will no longer be available.
On Feb. 28, downloading and installing games through Legacy will be disabled entirely. Games already installed will remain playable, but customers will no longer be able to retrieve another copy through Legacy if one is later removed.
Anyone with a Legacy Games account should check their library before the deadline and install anything they want to keep. After Feb. 28, deleting a game could mean losing access to that copy through Legacy for good.
