Known online as Natsuki_The_Oni, the ALG streamer brings a different kind of presence to the team. Natsuki is a VTuber, using an avatar as part of her streaming identity.
Her online persona comes from a dream.
“I had a dream where I was someone reborn as an oni,” Natsuki said. “The twist of it was that I would be reborn in different eras.”
That idea eventually grew into the character and motto behind the stream.
“I am your ever reincarnating Oni Warlord,” Natsuki said.
Natsuki served in the Army as a 42 Alpha human resource specialist at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska. Her service was on the Army side of the joint base, which also includes the Air Force.
Natsuki described her military experience as brief, with much of the time spent in training and daily administrative work.
“I didn’t really serve for too long,” Natsuki said. “Most of it was training… besides doing the day-to-day paperwork and all that.”
Gaming was still part of life during that period. Natsuki said Arma 3 became a favorite while in the service. Streaming, however, came later.
After leaving the military, Natsuki found a path into streaming through Stack Up, a Veteran-focused gaming nonprofit. While looking for like-minded Veterans and gaming communities, Natsuki met people who helped connect her to American Legion Gaming. One of those connections led to an invitation to join the ALG stream team.
Natsuki has been with ALG for several months and is currently part of the Individual Ready Reserve team, with plans to return to the active stream team when possible.
The games Natsuki streams tend to change depending on the community around her. Persona titles are a regular part of the lineup, along with games such as Darktide and Fallout 76. Natsuki said she prefers streaming with others rather than always playing alone.
That interest in shared gaming goes back years.
As a child, Natsuki played Pokémon and later spent time on Xbox 360 with Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 3, and Halo Reach. She also remembered playing on PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2, along with Rainbow Six Vegas 2, a game she played with a cousin.
Today, gaming is more than entertainment for Natsuki. It is stress relief, escapism, and a creative outlet.
“I would say it’s definitely stress relief,” Natsuki said. “And just escaping the day-to-day grind of everything.”
At the same time, Natsuki is honest about the pressure that can come with online spaces. Outside of ALG, she helps run communities, which can bring its own stress.
Still, gaming remains central to who she is.
“Gaming is definitely my passion,” Natsuki said. “If I were unable to play video games, I don’t know what I’d be doing right now.”
Natsuki once wanted to create video games. Streaming became another way to stay close to that passion while building connections with others.
For Natsuki, ALG stands out because of its focus on Veterans and the role gaming can play in mental health, friendship, and belonging.
“ALG is basically just an outreach program to me, specifically for Veterans,” Natsuki said. “It’s another home for Veterans.”
Natsuki said gaming is often misunderstood, especially by those who only see it as violent or isolating. Through ALG, she sees gaming as something much more personal.
“It can be a passion,” Natsuki said. “It can be a home.”
That sense of home is one reason Natsuki recommends ALG to others. She said programs that put Veterans first and support mental health deserve recognition.
Natsuki has been less active with ALG recently while focusing on personal well-being. She said that stepping back has been necessary.
“If you cannot be there for yourself, how can you be there for others?” Natsuki said.
Away from streaming, Natsuki enjoys writing stories and spending time with friends.
As ALG continues growing its stream team, Natsuki hopes the organization keeps reaching more Veterans through gaming, community, and peer support.
For now, Natsuki is one of the few Veteran streamers using a VTuber identity to build connections. And in true Natsuki fashion, the mission comes with a little fantasy-world flair.
